The CIES Football Observatory has calculated their annual market values of players in the five major European leagues for 2018.
CIES criteria for valuation
The valuation considers some key criteria such as age, position, contract duration, performance, international status, etc.
Neymar is valued at €213m which suggest that PSG’s €222m was not too much over the odds while Barcelona legend Messi €202.2m despite turning 30 last year is second behind mneymar and Harry Kane €194.7m completes the top three on the list of 100 players.
English Premier League produced Five players who are in the top ten: Harry Kane (2nd), Dele Alli (6th), Kevin de Bruyne (7th), Romelu Lukaku (8th) and Paul Pogba (10th). FC Barcelona’s goalkeepers Marc-André ter Stegen (€96m) and Samuel Umtiti (€101m) were estimated the highest defenders. However, Italy was not left behind as Paulo Dybala (€175m) heads the Serie A rankings, while Bayer Munchen’s forward Robert Lewandowski (€107m) has the greatest figure for German Bundesliga players.

Cristiano Ronaldo who recently claimed his fifth Ballon d’Or following an incredible end to the 2017/18 campaign. The 32-year-old Portuguese forward was 7th on the CIES list in 2017 but – possibly because of his dismal start to the season – has tumbled down the list this year.
Ronaldo was deemed to be worth €80.4m by the study and is all the way down in 49th.
